Motorists and residents in Bridgewater are asked to be aware of the upcoming two-week closure of the Gunn Street off-ramp from the Midland Highway in Bridgewater as part of the construction of the New Bridgewater Bridge.

Between Monday, 30 September and Monday, 14 October there will be no access on Gunn Street between the Midland Highway and Nielsen Esplanade.

Midland Highway motorists wanting to access Gunn Street, Nielsen Esplanade and nearby streets will need to use the East Derwent Highway, Greenpoint Road and Eddington Street, Bridgewater.

Working hours will be from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 6pm on Saturdays.

The closure will facilitate the construction of a new intersection at Gunn Street to connect to Old Main Road under the new bridge.

The closure will coincide with the school holidays to minimise disruption to drivers and bus operators as much as possible.

The work will include earthworks, construction of pavements, kerbs, footpaths and asphalting and will use excavators, a grader, various trucks, and asphalting equipment.

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place near this work, and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
