This work is a tribute to three local icons - the black swan, the old Bridgewater Bridge and the Bridgewater Jerry.

Familiar to locals and intriguing to visitors, The Bridgewater Jerry is an evocative travelling fog that occurs in autumn and winter.

At night, cold air runs down the mountains and collects in the Derwent Valley. If the air is moist and cool enough, fog will form. The following morning, the air runs out of the valley, blowing the fog with it along the river.

The Jerry is ephemeral and light, but holds the power to disrupt and slow traffic creating a moment of stillness – as if to say ‘give way’.
