Traffic changes in Bridgewater – November 2024
There will be traffic changes in Bridgewater from this Thursday, 28 November 2024 as we continue to build the new Bridgewater Bridge.
We are building a new intersection at Boyer Road and Old Main Road in Bridgewater.
To do this, we need to close Boyer Road between Old Main Road and Sorell Street to all traffic from Thursday, 28 November until Thursday, 5 December 2024.
This means that heavy vehicles won’t be able to get onto Boyer Road from Old Main Road.
All heavy vehicles will need to use the Lyell Highway to travel through New Norfolk to get onto Boyer Road.
Light vehicles will be able to get onto Boyer Road by using a detour on Cobbs Hill Road and Sorell Street.
Buses and emergency services can also use this detour.
Boyer Road will reopen to traffic on Thursday, 5 December but work at the intersection will continue until Wednesday, 11 December 2024.
The work to build the new intersection will be done during normal construction hours of Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 6pm.
There will be a 40km/h speed limit during the work and there may be some minor delays.
There will be access to properties and businesses on Old Main Road.
