Brooker Highway over size vehicle detour

We are building a new northbound slow lane on the Brooker Highway as part of the New Bridgewater Bridge Project.

To do this work, we need to reduce the width of the northbound lane of the Brooker Highway by relocating concrete barriers, which will restrict the movement of very large loads through the area.

During this time, over-size over-mass (OSOM) vehicles with loads over 3.5 metres wide won’t be able to travel through the project site on the Brooker Highway and will need to follow a detour.

The detour will be in place for northbound OSOM vehicles only from 6.00pm on Monday, 31 March 2025 until 6.00am on Monday, 7 April 2025.

OSOM vehicles wanting to travel north through the project site onto either the Lyell Highway or Midland Highway will need to exit the Brooker Highway at Rosetta and use Main Road to travel to Granton, before re-entering the Brooker Highway.

OSOM vehicles with loads up to 3.5 metres wide will still be able to travel north on the Brooker Highway without detouring.

For all other vehicles, short, intermittent stoppages will be in place in off-peak times between 31 March and 4 April for barrier relocation and asphalt placement. Any queuing will be monitored and if needed, work will cease to allow queues to be cleared.
