Opening of new Black Snake Road bridge underpass in Granton – April 2025
There will be changes to traffic movements in Granton from Wednesday, 16 April 2025 as part of the New Bridgewater Bridge Project.
From Wednesday, the new Black Snake Road bridge underpass will be open to traffic, removing the temporary U turn on the Brooker Highway.
Traffic travelling south will use the new roundabout at the bottom of Black Snake Road and the underpass to access Black Snake Road while northbound traffic will continue to turn left into Black Snake Road from the Lyell Highway.
Traffic underneath the new Black Snake Road bridge will be one-way only, traveling west from the new roundabout and under the bridge to the Lyell Highway.
Traffic travelling from Black Snake Road into Hobart will continue to use the Granton causeway roundabout to turn and then travel south.
There will be some day and night works to prepare for the changes.
Drivers are encouraged to follow any directions from traffic controllers and signage.
All dates for this work are subject to weather conditions and may be rescheduled as required.
